Visa received!

So, this morning, I called up DHL and asked if my shipment was ready for pick up. The lady confirmed it was! So, this evening once my dad was home, I borrowed his car and headed out to Dorval, the DHL location I chose which is closest to me. Took about 30 minutes to get there and then another 30 back, but it was definitely worth it! At DHL, the lady asked for ID as it was for a passport pick up and she had to verify. She then asked me to open the DHL package to confirm with the passport as well. I carefully cut the package as I didn't want to accidentally tear at the sealed envelope within. She looked at my passport and then told me everything was okay and that I could take the package. I happily skipped off to the car :)

Here's some pictures if you're interested (as always, click to enlarge):

Here's me holding the very bright yellow DHL package.

The contents of the package.

Finally have the visa!

The very important, sealed envelope. Who ever opens this package must be extremely blind.

This is what it looks like on DHL when you input the reference ID that is found on the CSC site.

This is what it looks like on DHL when you get your waybill number or when you click on 'view status' when you put in the reference ID number.

P.S. Only 5 more days and 10 hours till I leave Canada and head for the border!

  1. So very happy and glad you got it in time, well quite a few days before you leave...
Are you already packing? Do you have a lot to take with you or mainly personal stuff?
Can't wait to read your posts about your trip and to see pictures of you and Ben and your new place, etc.

  2. Thanks! I'm so happy I got it before I left.
And I've been pretty much packed for months now, lol. I'm just trying to get rid of some furniture at the moment. Then I just have to pack my remaining clothes and that's pretty much it. And I'm just taking personal stuff with me, no furniture or anything. I'll take a picture on Wednesday when everything is completely packed and put it up here :)

  4. I got an email from DHL at 7:01pm on Thursday. In the email they gave me a waybill number which I was able to use on the DHL site. But I was also able to use the 7-digit reference ID from the CSC site and when I put that in, I was able to view the waybill number. I'm sure you'll be getting your visa back next week sometime :)

  9. hi lindsay,
my interview is tomorrow and i am freaking out!! i just saw that they asked for DS-230 form, I had no idea about this form, does everyone has to fill it out? i am applying for CR1, do you know if it applies to me?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Yes, if you're doing a CR-1 visa, they will ask you to fill out a DS-230 since Montreal isn't used to the new online system yet. You can either fill it out now and save some time, or do it tomorrow at the consulate. Good luck!
