Case sent to Montreal

I called an operator up yesterday to see if our case has been shipped to the US Consulate in Montreal. According to John, it had been sent on March 28th, the day I called. When I called the AVR this morning, it confirmed: "NVC has completed the processing of this application and has forwarded it to the embassy or consulate in Montreal on March 28th, 2011. Please contact the embassy or consulate for further questions."

Now, a couple of months ago, I found this thread with instructions on how you can track your case from NVC to the US Embassy or Consulate. You go to DHL.com and select 'Track by Reference' under the Track option. You then put in "EXP 28 MAR 2011A" as the reference number (changing the dates according to your case). Hit 'Track', and a bunch of shipments should appear, going to numerous countries. Now the thread I found said to use the day before the case was sent out as the reference number, but the day before for our case was a Sunday. I tried using Friday's date, but there were no cases sent to Canada. But when I used Monday's date, there was a shipment heading to Montreal, Canada.

If for whatever reason you want to track my case along with me, just use tracking number: 8768131783 and put it in the box hereI'm not 100% positive of course that my case is included in that shipment, but I'd say it's a very good chance. I also have signed up for email notifications on the shipment, but I'm crazy, so :D

I think I'll call up DOS a day after I see the shipment has been delivered to see if my case was received by Montreal, just to be sure.

  1. Wow, you are really into it.
It's actually good to know that you can track your case... I'll do it as well when we get our interview with all the shootings and bad things, plus border crossing in Ciudad Juarez.
I have another question,I know you knew I had another one :)
So once you send your case to NVC they do everything? or do they have to send things to your assinged consulate before the case is complete?
    Just wondering
    Wishing you a grate day!

  2. Yup, I'm definitely crazy and into it. I wanted to make sure my case arrived safely at Montreal. If my case was in that package, which I believe it was.
You should definitely track since yours is going to Cuidad Juarez. I wasn't too worried about my package, but I still wanted to have fun and track it.
Nope, NVC does everything, nothing gets sent to the consulate until AFTER the case is complete. About 2 weeks after you send in your packages, they get reviewed and if no RFEs, case complete. Then after NVC assigns an interview date, they ship the case to the consulate.
Have a great day as well! :)

  3. Last night I just couldn't go to sleep, just because on the DS260 form on the question about school degrees, I answered in Spanish... I just didn't know if to do it in English or Spanish so I figured that if I was asked about it during the interview the actual thing it's in Spanish, besides I'm not so sure if a Licenciatura is a Bachelor's degree there, I believe that's the closest, but now I'm kind of thinking that I should have answered in English... what if we get an RFE because of it?
God knows... I'm really praying that we don't
    What do you think?

  4. Hmm.. I'm not sure. I haven't seen anyone get any RFEs for the DS-260. It seems like they're not that picky. I'd say you're fine and you shouldn't worry about it. I answered 'DEC' for college degree and that's only known in Quebec, Canada and they didn't have a problem with that.
